Originating from Colorado, Tempest got his start in music production at the young age of 17. He immersed himself in the world of dubstep and made sure his name was known around the Denver, Colorado area. Quickly mastering the fine arts of music production, it was only a matter of time before people started to take notice. Drawing inspiration from iconic figures such as Datsik, Zomboy, and Bassnectar, Tempest has an ear for heavy, melodic driven baselines, crystal clear sound and huge trunk rattling bass to top it all off. A sound so unique that it has been noticed and played out by some the biggest names in the scene such as Adventure Club, GRiZ, Party Favor, Brillz and many more.
Through years of experience and residency, his live performances consist of precision deck control alongside a carefully chosen track selection that will leave you in awe. Showing no sign of stopping anytime soon, Tempest hopes to establish himself even further in the music industry moving through 2017. And judging by his monstrous remix that was recently featured in Figure's "Monsters 7 Remix EP", we'd say he's off to a damn good start.
HoH: Hey Danny! Congratulations on making Figure's 'Monsters 7 Remix' EP. How did that opportunity come about for you and what's the vibe on the home front?
Tempest: Thanks man! I've always been a huge fan of Figure's music and seeing those yearly Monsters EPs made me so stoked around each Halloween. When he started playing out my tunes last year, I had asked him for stems to a track from the Monsters 7 EP. Luckily Figure is the nicest guy and sent me stems without hesitation. Super thankful that he gave me a shot at it.
The vibes in LA where i'm based out of are pretty hectic, but I enjoy it because it drives me to get shit done. Trying to juggle working a job and making music with so much to do every night in LA is tough, but I think I've found my limit. Constantly being around creative people who you can network and bounce ideas off with has helped me out immensely.
HoH: We're really excited to have you join us here in Philly on April 15th for Secret Society. You're living in Los Angeles at the moment. What's the furthest East you've ever traveled for a gig?
Tempest: I'm so exited as well! Furthest East I have travelled for an event is Detroit. I've heard so many thing about Philly. Hope you guys are ready to get down!!
HoH: What should we expect out of your set on April 15th? Are you working on any new music at the moment?
Tempest: My set is changing every show, but it usually comprises of many unreleased songs from me and my friends, edits i've made beforehand, and maybe some troll tunes ;). I try to focus on creating a set that leaves the listener going "WTF was that?!" and not have the same generic set as every other DJ that comes to town. As far as music goes, i'm working on a ton of new originals, more remixes and some big collabs that i will for sure be playing at Secret Society!
