“We are sorry to report that due to unforeseen circumstances the Nashville Mad Decent Block Party will not be taking place. We apologize especially to those of you who made travel plans to attend this but we exhausted all efforts with no avail to bring the block party to Nashville. We hope you come to see us in another city. Full refunds are available at the point of purchase.” That was the only official statement from Mad Decent regarding the cancellation of their Block Party tour stop in Nashville.
The lack of detail is leaving fans curious as to why it was called off a few weeks before the day of the show. Mad Decent and Carl Black Chevy Woods Amphitheater (the venue that was to host the event) did not respond at attempts to be contacted. Diplo, the Mad Decent label founder has been mostly quiet about the situation. Many fans have asked him via facebook and twitter for an explanation, and the only one he gave was that the “city hatin”.
Whether it was ticket sales or the venue’s decision, it does not seem likely that a clear explanation will be given soon. The Nashville show was not the only one cancelled on the tour, a show in New Orleans was also cancelled in June. It is also worth noting that Carl Black Chevy Woods Amphitheater also nixed Damien Rice, the Irish singer-songwriter’s show scheduled for August 18th, for “unforeseen circumstances.” The lack of answers is leaving Mad Decent fans with an empty date on their calendar, and a lot of questions of which we plan to answer very soon.
