On January 23rd, Philly bassheads found themselves rejoicing over a stacked lineup at SoundGarden Hall, including the likes of Nixsin, Infuze & headliner, Point.Blank. The massive night on Spring Garden & Columbus was the second show for the up-and-coming squad Mischief World Productions, whose roots are within the House of Hearts family. Our very personal friend & Baltimore dub-head Nixsin wasted no time setting the mood for the night with his dark and sinister beats washing over the room as fans slowly trickled in.
As the club began to heat up, Infuze took the stage and dove into an hour long assault of bass, dropping bangers such as “Survivors” (Zomboy & MUST DIE!), “Yasuo” (Crowell & Bommer) and the Trollphace & Skrillex remix of Yogi’s “Burial”. Infuze left fans clutching at their backs while continuing their attempts at headbanging for an hour straight, finishing off his set with his well-known remix of the man himself Bassnectar's "Mystery Song."
By the time his set ended, the room full of sweat-covered fans was more than ready for that sinister classic dub sound that is Point.Blank. Matar took the stage to an incredible roar from the packed crowd and proceeded to turn SoundGarden into a headbanger’s paradise, playing out all of his signature hits, throwing in terrifying drop after terrifying drop.
Philly couldn’t get enough as he railed through a rich set of dubstep, drumstep and D&B, turning the cold January night into a steamy packed house full of womping diehard bassheads. The Belgian mastermind dropped originals such as "Head Gone", "Lizard" with EH!DE and his Buygore smash hit "Get Down VIP" as he bobbed around the stage with intense energy. Matar is an extremely friendly and genuine artist; having arrived well before doors and staying until the venue emptied out, it was very clear he was happy to be with us here in Philly. It goes without saying that Point.Blank is a quality act.
As the club let out just after 2AM, House of Hearts and the rest of the fans that came out had nothing but praise for the night’s incredible acts. Mischief World Productions, the team that put all of us under the same roof this Friday night should be proud of themselves for this fantastic dubstep throwdown that brought out a great crowd, great artists and made for great memories.
