So far the month of November has been nothing but excitement. Earlier this week, we were given another exciting opportunity to interview Thomas Gold. With the release of Never Alone and SOUQ earlier this year, Thomas talks to us about his cross-genre collaboration with Lush and Simon and their new track Morphine. Mr. Gold will be also be performing in Philadelphia at Coda on November 25th of this month.
Q. How does it feel to be back in the U.S.? Is there a special moment you’ve had from the States that you always think about?
A. I love to travel in the US! So many great places here and the people are amazing. I had a ton of special moments here, but one the most impressive was when I came to NYC for the very first time in my life. I was so excited and everything looked exactly like I only had seen it on TV or in the movies :-) Also playing the main stages at EDC Las Vegas and Ultra Miami were both ‘magical’ moments. Hard to describe what you feel when you are in front of such a big crowd and everybody is having their hands up in the air…goosebumps is the right word i think. But apart from that - I love to explore all the cities and places in the US, there is always something new to discover. And I feel very welcomed here.
Q. Tell us about your new release. How did the collaboration come together for “Morphine” & working with Armind?
A. I have always been a fan of Lush & Simon’s work, and when we met each other for the first time we just talked about music and came up with the idea of making a track together. The rest went quite quick, we had a first idea and started working on it. Then we kept sending the project back and forth (as we were all traveling a lot we couldn’t make it into the studio together for a session, but this is already planned for 2016!) and after a couple of weeks the track was finished. It was fun and I loved to take a bit of a different approach to a track than my recent productions. I think you can hear both our influences on it and all the three of us, we’re super happy with the result!
