Young The Giant
at Festival Pier
As you may recall, last month the alternative rock band Young the Giant transported Festival Pier to another dimension of sound, and with it the fans that had gathered there. Their Philadelphia concert was one of the last stops in the group’s massive cross-continental tour promoting their most recent album Home of the Strange, which was released in August of 2016. This is a band that first started to really make waves way back with their titular first album back in 2010, and since then they’ve been on a steady climb to rockstar-dom.
Over the course of this time the group’s members--including lead singer Sameer Gadhia, guitarists Jacob Tilley and Eric Cannata, bassist Payam Doostzadeh and François Comtois on drums--have forged a powerful chemistry that shines through both their work and live performances. After their most recent visit to Philly in September they hit a couple more stops before finally wrapping up the tour in Irvine, CA just this month. So to mark the occasion we are releasing some photos we have of their performance at Festival Pier, courtesy of our friend and rockstar of a photographer Benjamin Rivkin, for your viewing pleasure.
We hope you enjoy!! Don’t forget to keep checking back here at House of Hearts for more concert recaps, ticket giveaways, interviews, event previews, and special “just for fun” pieces like this. Because second to being music promoters, we’re fans first.
